IFMC State Solo and Concerto Contest

Rules

 

To enter a student in the state solo and concerto contest, the following materials must be submitted:

  1. Application form
  2. PDF file of score(s)
  3. Video of performance(s)

To submit these items, click here. You will be able to complete the application and upload the score(s) and video(s) as attachments to the application form.

Please note that the judge needs to be able to see the student's pedaling (piano) and fingerwork in all videos.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Piano Solo: Very Difficult 2 - Musically Advanced 2
  • Cello, Clarinet, Oboe: Difficult Class 1 – Advanced Class 2
  • Viola, Violin: Difficult Class 1 – Advanced Class 2
    SOLO ENTRIES MUST PERFORM AND RECORD TWO (2) SONGS
  • Concerto (any instrument) Senior Level (RECORD 1 SONG)

Rules

  1. Must have received a superior rating in their local Junior Festival.
  2. Previous first place winners are not able to win first place again in the same category.
  3. Students entering both Solo and Concerto must upload a separate file with a student application for each entry.
  4. SOLO ENTRIES MUST PERFORM AND RECORD TWO (2) SONGS
  5. Songs must be memorized.

Awards

Winners will be ranked according to 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th places.
First Place winners will receive $500; Second Place winners receive $350; Third Place winners receive $200; Fourth Place winners receive $100.
